Quick start
- On Home, describe the song you want—or open Create for more control.
- Choose an engine. Simple mode is fastest; Studio mode adds lyrics, arrangement, duration, and advanced controls.
- Review the exact credit amount beside Generate, then confirm the request.
- Follow progress from the generation status bar. You can keep working while the song is created.
- Open the result in Now Playing, save it to Library, create versions, share it, or send it to Master.
Write a prompt with a high keeper rate
A strong prompt gives the engine a musical destination without prescribing every second. Start with genre and emotional arc, add two or three defining instruments, describe the vocal point of view, then include tempo, era, or arrangement only when it matters.
- Useful: 'Mid-tempo nocturnal synth-pop that grows from restrained verses into a cathartic final chorus; warm analog bass, glassy arpeggios, intimate female vocal, crisp live-feeling drums.'
- Avoid contradictory instructions such as 'minimal and orchestral' unless you explain how the transition should happen.
- Avoid stuffing the prompt with every genre, instrument, mood, and production term you know.
- Describe musical traits and emotional references instead of asking for a living artist's exact voice or style.
Choose the right engine
- Novello v3 — a strong starting point for quick drafts, style exploration, instrumentals, and version work.
- MiniMax Music 3 — useful for longer, lyrically structured songs and clear arrangement direction.
- ElevenLabs Music — useful when vocal character, musical nuance, and an extended arrangement are central to the brief.
- Lyria 3 Pro — useful for polished full-song generation with detailed musical and production direction.
Lyrics that sing naturally
Choose Auto Lyrics when you want Novello to develop the story, Custom Lyrics when the words matter, or No Lyrics for an instrumental. For custom lyrics, use short bracketed section labels such as [Verse], [Pre-Chorus], [Chorus], and [Bridge].
- Keep line length and meter reasonably consistent within a section.
- Give the chorus one memorable phrase or image that can carry the hook.
- Use stage directions sparingly; too many instructions can be sung as literal lyrics.
- Read the lyric aloud once before generating. Awkward speech usually becomes awkward melody.
Credits and confirmed requests
Novello shows the exact credit cost before a generation request is sent. Credits are charged when the request is accepted for provider submission. If you cancel after submission, or the upstream generation later fails after it has been billed, those credits are not returned. A validation error that prevents submission is not charged.
The internal TestFlight beta is unlocked for invited testers with a 5,000-credit test balance and unlimited Master. The retail membership and credit-pack structure below is the planned launch pricing; purchases remain disabled during internal testing.
Three premium memberships
Every active membership includes unlimited Master exports. Monthly credits reset on the renewal date and do not roll over. Novello spends monthly credits before purchased credits so long-lived balances are preserved.
- Creator — $9.99 per month: 220 creation credits and unlimited Master.
- Studio — $19.99 per month: 500 creation credits and unlimited Master.
- Pro — $39.99 per month: 1,050 creation credits and unlimited Master.
Credit packs
Purchased credits never expire. They can supplement any membership or be used without one. Without an active membership, each Master export costs 20 credits.
- Quick Boost — $4.99: 80 credits.
- Studio Boost — $9.99: 200 credits.
- Producer Boost — $19.99: 475 credits.
How many complete songs can I make?
These conservative examples use the current default quote for a complete three-minute generation: Novello v3 costs 7 credits, MiniMax Music 3 costs 37, ElevenLabs Music costs 181, and Lyria 3 Pro costs 9. The confirmation sheet always shows the live price before submission; duration and options can change the total.
- Creator: up to 31 Novello v3, 5 MiniMax Music 3, 1 ElevenLabs Music, or 24 Lyria 3 Pro songs.
- Studio: up to 71 Novello v3, 13 MiniMax Music 3, 2 ElevenLabs Music, or 55 Lyria 3 Pro songs.
- Pro: up to 150 Novello v3, 28 MiniMax Music 3, 5 ElevenLabs Music, or 116 Lyria 3 Pro songs.
- Quick Boost: up to 11 Novello v3, 2 MiniMax Music 3, or 8 Lyria 3 Pro songs; combine it with an existing balance for a full three-minute ElevenLabs Music song.
- Studio Boost: up to 28 Novello v3, 5 MiniMax Music 3, 1 ElevenLabs Music, or 22 Lyria 3 Pro songs.
- Producer Boost: up to 67 Novello v3, 12 MiniMax Music 3, 2 ElevenLabs Music, or 52 Lyria 3 Pro songs.
Playback, versions, and Library
- Use Now Playing to pause, resume, and scrub through a generated track.
- Save a keeper for offline playback before a temporary generation URL expires.
- Use versions to keep related attempts together instead of replacing a promising result.
- Search and filters in Library help find songs by title, engine, style, or status.
Master and export
Open Master from the tab bar or use the mastering action on a completed song. Master works with real generated or imported audio; sample artwork without an audio file cannot be mastered. Compare the processed and original versions before rendering, then export the finished file with the system share sheet.
If generation is delayed or fails
- Keep Novello open or return later; pending requests are restored when the app relaunches.
- Open the generation status bar and use Review or Retry when an action is offered.
- Confirm that the iPhone has a stable internet connection before submitting another paid request.
- If a completed song will not play, open its details, check for another saved version, and save the audio locally when available.
- Include the engine, approximate request time, and exact error text when contacting support.
